Windows Phone HackFest Roundup

I had a great day yesterday.  I got together with a bunch developers new to Windows Phone 7 and got to help them get started on the platform.  This is one of my favorite parts of being a developer, the community.  I really enjoy getting to sit down with other developers and talk about what works and what doesn’t and what they honestly think about both platforms and tools.   I find that I always walk away with new ideas, new tips and new friends.

I want to thank all the people that braved the cold, rainy weather in Toronto to come down to ObjectSharp and all the people that went out to the BCIT campus in Vancouver and hang out with us, have some laughs, and write some great code!  I also want to thank the people at Microsoft and ObjectSharp that gave up their time on a weekend to come out and help support us.  I also want to thank Sasha at Telerik for supplying RadControls for Windows Phone licenses as prizes.

Speaking of prizes, we gave away a ton of stuff at the events: pens, sweatshirts, XBox games, Office 2011 Pro, Windows Phone 7 Mugs, Backpacks, Telerik licenses.

But great prizes aside, it was all about the apps!  I saw some great apps that were just starting and some that people had started in anticipation of the event.  I can’t wait to check out some of these cool new apps!

Make sure you check in here often to find out how things go with the apps from the HackFest in the Great Canadian Apportunity!
